Asst Research Coordinator

Under direction, coordinates and implements approved research projects; recruits and screens study patients; supports enrolling patients onto clinical trials through recruitment, screening and assessment of patient eligibility for inclusion in studies and follows up on eligible subjects according to protocol requirements; acts as contact person for study patients; performs research protocol procedures; collects information through charts, interviews, questionnaires and test results; maintains logs and inventory of study products and supplies for use; maintains records, subject logs and study-related communications; stores and ships lab specimens; tracks and reports adverse events, serious adverse events, protocol waivers, deviations and violations; collects and enters data into study specific case report forms or electronic data capture systems; coordinates patient follow-up visits; meets with sponsor/monitors for monitoring site visits; performs close-out of completed studies; packages and ships samples and subcultures to central laboratory for analysis; draws blood and transfers surgical tissue samples for testing; performs blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens; obtains informed consent from patients; prepares presentations to schedule updates for physicians, nurses and staff on research protocol; generates reports for supervisor on patient enrollment and tracking; is responsible for patient follow-up post-surgery; collects, completes and enters data into study specific case report forms or electronic data capture systems; performs other job related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree required (more than two years of experience in study coordination may be substituted); Master's degree preferred; working knowledge of federal regulations such as FDA/ICH and GCP highly desired; certification as phlebotomist with one year experience a plus; practical knowledge of document processes and reporting if Serious Adverse Events, 1572s, Clinical Research Forms, International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health highly desired; must have previous experience in a medical clinic; must have understanding of medical and research terminology; previous experience in a laboratory setting preferred; must have previous experience dealing with patient population and Patient-consent protocol; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to use clinical trial databases; excellent organization and communication skills.
