Avalon Health and Fitness, founded in 2006 is a premier strength and conditioning organization serving primarily military and first responders. In 2010, the facility became an official CrossFit affiliate and is also known as Avalon CrossFit. Along with becoming an official CrossFit affiliate, they have greatly expanded their client base to include anyone who is ready to take their fitness experience to the next level. Avalon has been experiencing a rapid growth in membership and classes/services offered.
As part of this growth, they are seeking a new, full-time Assistant General Manager and CrossFit Instructor. This will be someone with a "player-coach" mentality and is an excellent opportunity for someone with a CrossFit and business or military leadership background to transition into the running of a CrossFit box. There is excellent growth potential for a candidate who performs well in the Assistant General Manager role, including promotion to a General Manager Position within the next two years.
The Assistant General Manager will report directly to the Acting General Manager/CEO and will be responsible for ensuring company sales and profitability goals are met, ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the box, ensuring all classes and open gym times are covered, teaching CrossFit classes, conducting CrossFit Onboarding sessions, assisting in programming, and helping complete the daily operations checklist for running the club.
Secondary duties include helping with any number of special projects, including running clinics and workshops, special sales and marketing outreach projects, blog writing and/or editing, and helping improve Avalon CrossFit's online presence. The ideal candidate will want to pursue learning everthing there is to know about running a CrossFit box and will want to take on a position with more responsibility within the next two years. This is an excellent opportunity for a current CrossFit instructor looking for more meaningful involvement in a CrossFit box.
Minimum candidate requirements are a valid AED/CPR Cert and CrossFit Level 1 Certification (certified version), 2+ years fitness coaching background in an official CrossFit affiliate, and at least 2 years experience in a leadership role with direct reports. Experience managing in a retail fitness club environment a huge plus. Candidates who do not already have a current NSCA- CPT, NASM, ACSM, or ACE personal trainer certification will be required to get one of these certifications during the probationary period of this job.
Salary is dependant upon experience, additional certifications and licenses.
