Devereux is a non-profit organization providing services around the nation for persons with emotional, developmental, and educational disabilities. Devereux, established in 1912 by Helen T. Devereux, is now the largest independent non-profit provider of its kind. Devereux, New York, specifically provides services for individuals dually diagnosed with developmental disabilities and psychiatric/behavioral disorders. Devereux, New York, operates a private residential school located in the Mid-Hudson Valley, a day school located in Westchester County, and several group homes throughout the state. Our mission is to provide the highest-quality services in a caring and humane way to foster human potential and to contribute to the individual’s health, social, psychological, and educational well-being.
Our Westchester location in Millwood, New York, is seeking a Part Time Program Coordinator who will be responsible for the following:
Coordinator shall market the program to high schools, at transition fairs, etc.
*2). Th Coordinator shall respond to questions from prospective parents/districts about the program.
*3). Th Coordinator shall screen potential applicants for the program (involves meetings, observations, and possible standardized assessment)
*4). Will act as building administrator as well as primary teacher during the nights that the program is in operation.
*5). Will hire and supervise instructors of the program.
6) Will locate community-based experiences for participants in pre-vocational/vocational settings
7). Will develop a curriculum for the program and develop systems of data collection/progress monitoring for each participant/class.
8). Will develop an academy social/community skills program for “lower functioning” adults on the spectrum

Requirements:
Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field. Education requirements may be waived with significant similar experience in autism spectrum disorders/program development. Candidate must possess a BS/BA if experience allows for waiver of MA requirement.
Experience: Candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience with special needs populations, one of which shall be in a coordinator or supervisory capacity. Experience with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
