Under direction, performs billing and administrative support functions for physicians and nurses in the Hemophilia Program; schedules appointments for patients; registers new patients in GE system and initiates and updates medical records for outpatient visits; sets up appointments and arranges for laboratory and diagnostic tests, x-rays and schedules admissions and procedures; confirms appointments; verifies insurance eligibility for patient appointments and factor products; forwards refill of factor prescription requests to nursing staff and calls in orders as instructed by nurses and physician; records orders in logbook and EPICARE; completes other paperwork for Blood Bank, NYP Patient Accounts and Long Island Blood Services; obtains necessary pre-certification numbers; adheres to policies and procedures outlined by hemophilia homecare order process; answers general inquiries about the coagulation and bleeding disorders clinic and health insurance coverage; explains billing procedures; provides secretarial coverage to other programs and physicians as needed for the Hematology and Oncology Division; performs other job related duties as required. Must have a high school diploma and one to two years of experience in a medical practice required including billing and scheduling software, preferably GE; College degree preferred; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; excellent organization and communication skills.
