RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates investigational drug service and has administrative oversight over operational duties such as drug compounding and dispensing conducted by pharmacy staff.
As a member of the pharmacy team, performs responsibilities which enhance the reputation and service-orientation of the pharmacy department.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
Frequent: pushing/pulling usual weight of up to 40 pounds of force, lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
Continuous: repetitive arm/hand motions.
Occasional: kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, pushing/pulling usual weight of up to maximum 50 pounds.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Not substantially subject to adverse environmental conditions.
Subjected to noise/vibration from air conditioner, printers, time stamp machines, pneumatic tubes, telephone, etc.
Exposure to hazardous drugs, antibiotics, chemicals, dust, odors and cleaning/ disinfectant fumes.
Work environment is fast paced, congested and may be stressful due to workload.
Interacts with patients, nurses, physicians, other healthcare professional, and the general public as needed.
Works on multiple tasks at the same time.
May be exposed to communicable diseases.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Current Hawaii State license as a Pharmacist.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy degree.
Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience
from accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of experience as an inpatient pharmacist in a teaching medical center or pharmacist in a clinical research setting, including experience with investigational drug dispensing and/or protocol management or oversight.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage.
Excellent interpersonal and professional skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to provide education and training to all levels of the health care team.
Experience in medication dispensing and IV services preferred.
