    We re looking for a highly skilled media relations professional who is seeking an exciting opportunity to tell the story behind the combat systems we build for the U.S. Armed Forces and our international customers, and of the men and women at BAE Systems who build them. We re looking for someone with proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with the media, excellent storytelling, developing overall media and campaign strategies, and the use of digital and social media to reach a broad audience. In thisCommunications Managerrole, you will support our program teams and key executive leadership-level stakeholders on meeting business objectives through messaging, marketing, branding, tradeshows, and internal communications.

    Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Develop and oversee media strategies for some of the most iconic, mission capable combat systems in the world.

    • Maintain relationships with, and serve as the primary business contact to, the news media while training and preparing leaders for media engagements.

    • Develop and execute communications plans in support of strategic business goals.

    • Develop and deliver communications assets including video scripts, marketing materials, and digital content.

    • Partner with key stakeholders to build and execute strategic communications campaigns for program pursuits.

    • Provide strategic direction and partner with leadership at all levels on appropriate external and internal communications strategies, tactics and execution to support the success of the business.

    • Lead responses during times of change including crisis communications and apply lessons learned following execution.

    • Use innovative approaches to tell the stories of our employees, our community, our customers, and our values.

    • Develop and lead cross-functional working groups with inspiration and ingenuity.

    • Serve as leadership s go-to for crisis communications and timely projects.

    • Connect with employees and serve as their voice in the room during business discussions.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    • Bachelor s Degree in a related discipline such as Communications, Journalism, or English with eight (8) years of relevant experience;

    • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communications skills;

    • Experience building collaborative relationships with diverse and geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders;

    • Media relations experience at the local, specialized trade, and/or national level, with experience in one or more of the following:

    • Campaign strategy

    • Digital/Social media

    • Marketing.

    • While this role has no direct reports, proven leadership abilities are required to successfully lead and drive positive engagement from a diversified and widespread workforce;

    • Extensive knowledge of AP Style and corporate journalism;

    • A background in an automotive, technical, or manufacturing environment required to support an expectation of technical writing comprehension and ability;

    • This hybrid-friendly position requires the ability to support 2-3 days a week at either the Sterling Heights, Michigan site, or alternatively, the York, Pennsylvania site;

    • Travel of up to ~10% required to support the product lines, for example, at industry trade shows.

    Pay Information

    Full-Time Salary Range: $113080 - $192280

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
