DHH Teacher Needed for Summer!

Amergis Staffing is hiring for a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing for the upcoming summer 2024 with possibility of extension into the school year. The DHH teacher teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.

What We Offer

• Monday-Friday schedule (between the hours of 7:30am-4pm)

• Pay: $35 - $37 / hr

• Weekly pay!

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations

• Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing

• Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students

• ASL proficiency exam or Certification required

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and implements lesson plans

• Utilizes the use of technical and specialized equipment for students with hearing loss

• Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles

• Communicates by way of sign/spoken language as appropriate

• Assists in the selection of instructional materials and equipment

• Provides training to students or staff to facilitate the child's learning, inclusion and independence

• Assesses student learning styles and uses results to plan educational activities

• Conducts assessments of student progress and achievement using testing methodology

• Compiles reports, records, and documents as required

• Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers, students, and other School District staff

• Follow School District policies and procedures
