    Description and Requirements

    The Team You Will Join

    Global Risk Management (GRM) oversees MetLife's financial and non-financial risks to support responsible growth and ensure we deliver on our promises to customers. GRM accomplishes this through proactive advice, independent and effective challenge, and implementation and enforcement of guardrails. The Climate Risk team, within GRM, is responsible for developing climate risk capabilities across MetLife, including climate risk identification, analysis, management.

    The Opportunity

    The Climate Risk Director role will be responsible for supporting the ongoing development of MetLife's climate risk capabilities. This person will assist with designing, implementing, and executing enterprise analysis and assessments of climate risks, particularly focused on investments; being a company subject matter expert for climate risk management, including industry news, regulations, peer activities & disclosures, actively engaged in creation of company disclosures; and work across the enterprise to integrate climate risk into the risk management framework.

    Successful candidates will leverage skills including relationship building, professional communication, risk management & qualitative analysis, and strategic vision to execute the analysis and reporting of climate risk program activities and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

    How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

    • Support the development and implementation of an analytical framework for assessing climate risks across MetLife;

    • Monitor regulations and financial industry standards, including best practices, climate risk scenarios and measurement approaches;

    • Support global coordination and climate risk-related reporting (e.g., drafting responses to external requests). Develop action plans, as appropriate;

    • Contribute to the design of climate risk scenario analysis and/or stress testing capabilities;

    • Perform analysis of climate risks on MetLife's investment portfolio;

    • Assist in developing approach to other Sustainability-related risk management policies and procedures, as needed;

    • Support preparation of materials for senior staff and key stakeholders;

    • Works independently on complex and/or important risk management projects;

    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

    • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or analytical field and 5+ years relevant working experience in financial services or insurance;

    • Strong communication and organizational skills with a practical solutions-driven approach, including ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume and complex environment with changing priorities;

    • Understanding of investment products (e.g., bonds, bank loans, commercial and residential mortgages, structured products, etc.) and strong business acumen;

    • Ability to condense internal and external data, often with high degrees of uncertainty into clear, actionable insights;

    • Genuine interest in understanding how climate change (through both physical and transition risks) impacts business, particularly the financial sector;

    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and work collaboratively with members of other departments and lines of business;

    • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, as well as ability to quickly learn new tools and platforms.

    What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)

    • Familiarity with existing frameworks and increasing regulatory expectations with respect to climate and/or Sustainability risks

    • Advance degree (e.g., MBA or law degree or master's degree in finance, Accounting or Economics) and professional designation is preferred (CFA, FRM, CPA, etc.)

    • Prior asset management, risk management or Climate Risk experience are a plus

    • Quantitative skills and experience analyzing/modelling large data sets

    The salary range for applicants for this position is $123,800 - $165,000.
