Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs fire alarm systems with accuracy.
Working knowledge of Smoke Control Systems, Building Integration, Air Sampling Systems, ERRCS.
Maintain expert level of product and applications knowledge.
Work with the technical staff to interpret project specifications and drawings, determining system layout.
Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
Assist with functional, technical, labor, and pricing elements of RFIs/RFPs.
Complete engineering requests in accordance with sound business practices and general corporate policies.
Understand and utilize company-drafting procedures.
Review individual drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy of work performed.
Maintain accurate records of, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases.
Perform to a professional standard for accurate, neat, error free work, as determined by the department manager.
Actively participate in personal and professional development and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers.
Promote a team environment, assisting other Design Engineers with their projects. Performs other related duties as required and/or assigned by ADTC management.

Minimum of High School Diploma/GED
Preferred: NICET Level I or above in Fire Alarm Systems.
Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
Experience in fire alarm design (2+ years preferred).
Proficient knowledge in current codes such as NFPA, UBC, IBC, UFC, IFC and the principles and practices of fire alarm engineering.
Proficient knowledge of state and local codes.
Working knowledge in the use of AutoCAD for the purpose of engineering and application of fire alarm systems.
Ability to read architectural, mechanical and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.
Must demonstrate Computer literacy, including such programs as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
Must demonstrate competency in advanced fire alarm design (High-rise, Smoke control, Voice, etc)
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities
Must possess superior interpersonal skills and be a team player.
Excellent customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized
Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
