    PacArctic is hiring for an Information Access Specialist for our government client in Charleston, SC. Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.

    The Information Access Specialist must have a comprehensive knowledge of release of information operations and regulations. Performs case management and reviews for IPS, as well as assists with the planning, implementation and support of the release of information.

    Duties:

    • Perform quality control reviews of information being redacted and released through IPS information access programs.

    • Ensure consistent application of redactions on documents (i.e. ensuring the same information is redacted on documents where identical language is located such as in email chains), ensure appropriate application of FOIA exemptions and/or declassification/classification markings, as well as following any Department-specific guidance on the release of information to the public, courts, Congress, Department employees, other federal agencies, and any other requester community.

    • Provide feedback to GS-12 level equivalent employees about inconsistent redactions or use of exemptions/reasons to withhold information.

    • Provide recommendations on the classification, declassification and/or release of information to team leads and branch chiefs within the IPS divisions in which s/he is working.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or ~~~ the areas of Political Science, Foreign Affairs, International Affairs/Relations, History, Law or related fields of study, and/or a Juris Doctor degree (with experience working in and/or demonstrated expertise in foreign affairs or national security highly preferred).

    • Demonstrated experience in the areas of foreign policy, diplomacy, foreign aid, or national security highly preferred.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of E.O. 13526, the FOIA, the Privacy Act, and other information access programs.

    • Experience working on FOIA appeals and/or FOIA litigation cases highly desirable including work on declarations, Vaughn indices, and preparing documents for FOIA litigation filings.

    Working Environment & Conditions

    This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Includes travel to local, remote and out of state locations.
