    Pharmacy Technician - St. Peter's Hospital

    Part Time Days

    St. Peter's Hospital is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician. If you are looking for a part-time day position, this could be your opportunity.

    Responsibilities:

    1. MEDICATION DISTRIBUTION

    Decentralized

    • Process "missing dose" and continuous infusion next bag requests

    • Morning (24hr) patient specific distribution

    • Intermittent Infusions-Deliver IVMB to patient specific bins/organize so bags are removed by time

    • Review refrigerated medications daily for outdates and short dated medications

    • Quarterly wipe-down of medication refrigerator interior on assigned units

    • Utilize census to move medications appropriately for Admissions, Discharges and Transfers.

    • Empty tubes/deliver to Pyxis/Medroom/RN (stat and urgent doses)

    • Return extra tubes to system

    • Liaison to pharmacy for missing doses/medication related issues

    • Monitor patient own meds and assure proper handling

    • Maintain neat and tidy med rooms, including refrigerators on the units covered

    • Assist with Pyxis drawer failures, alert patient care services to discrepancies, load medications

    • Appropriately handle incoming phone calls

    2. INVENTORY

    Decentralized

    • Maintain adequate levels of drugs and supplies for assigned area (floor stock par levels, vaccines, etc). - Maintains an adequate level of emergency drug boxes

    • Completes daily check of narcotic lock boxes on assigned nursing units

    • Performs monthly narcotic inventory in Pyxis cabinets of assigned nursing units

    3. ORDER and REPORT PROCESSING, RECORD KEEPING

    Decentralized

    • Assist with Transport Kit/Emergency Kit logs

    • Processes daily reports accurately and in a timely manner

    What you will need:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • National certification by PTCB or NHA preferred

    • Valid New York State Pharmacy Technician Registration preferred

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Able to perform arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, multiplication and division

    • Two years pharmacy and computer experience preferred

    • Relevant health care related experience preferred

    Pay Range: $19.00 - $24.85

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
