  • Pilot Plant Technician in Rensselaer, NY (12 Hour Night Shift)

    In this role you will

    • Complete training's; Building specific safety, Document training on SOP review, Production Technician Core Competency in the Learning Management System, Site safety and emergency notification and response procedures.

    • Learn and understand common chemical terminology; Reflux, Distillation, Azeotrope, Separations, pH, ML's, Filtration, Melting Point, Flash point, Vapor Pressure, Density, Boiling Point, Filter Press and Filtrate.

    • Read, understand and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets.

    • Learn to understand and maintain plant documentation; Batch Records, Cleaning Protocols, Equipment Use Logs, Equipment Status Tags and Labeling systems/Label generation.

    • Learn to operate equipment and machinery to support production processes as described in production batch records.

    • Perform all duties safely in accordance with; Curia-Rensselaer Safety Program, guidelines outlined by Good Manufacturing Practices for active pharmaceutical intermediates, Curia-Rensselaer Environmental Program.

    • Be proactive in assuming responsibilities that enable the building to function more effectively such as maintaining excellent housekeeping, initiating maintenance requests to repair faulty equipment, assisting in casual maintenance, and effectively preparing for new production in the building.

    • Assisting development chemists as necessary in preparing for product startups both in the laboratory and in the building.

    • Learn to operate the various reactors, filters and dryers located within the building. Additionally, the technician will be learn to operate all support systems within the building such as the distilled water system, deionized water system, breathing air system, scrubbers, vacuum systems, etc. as needed to perform assignments.

    • Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.

    • Participate in self-development activities.

    • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.

    • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

    Qualifications

    • Willingness to work a 7 PM -7 AM or a 7 AM - 7 PM shift-this position is for the 7 PM - 7 AM shift.

    • Willingness to train on Days or nights

    • High School diploma or equivalent.

    • Must be able to lift maximum of 50 lbs

    • Advanced math skills

    • Ability to follow FDA manufacturing guidelines

    • Communication skills

    Preferred

    • Associates Degree in a technical discipline such as science or engineering is a plus.

Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a "class B" level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.

    While performing the duties of this job

    • Individual is in a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and exposure to chemicals.

    • Atmospheric conditions sometimes expose individual to dust, for which protective equipment is available.

    • Individual may be required to wear respiratory devices that include but are not limited to: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) which include full-face negative pressure respirators, or Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), which include hooded supplied air respirators.

    Pay Range: $27.50/hour

    Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
