Our client, an industry leader in entertainment, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Key qualifications include a minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment, such as large conveyance systems, automotive, or large robotic systems. The candidate needs to be proficient in utilizing engineering and design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, sciences, or engineering technology is required.

responsibilities

The responsibilities include managing and executing various engineering projects involving different types of theme park attractions such as roller coasters, round rides, animatronics, transportation, hotels, and resorts. Collaboration with other mechanical engineers, designers, and ride control engineers is crucial, as well as conducting design reviews with various stakeholders including Design Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, Safety. Reporting progress to Facilities Asset Management and other stakeholders is also part of the role.

In addition to project management tasks, the engineer supports partner organizations to ensure a world-class experience for guests and cast members. This involves job captain duties on projects of various sizes, including design, component specification, engineering and hazard analysis, manufacturing support, installation, acceptance testing, post-turnover support, and general project management. Mentoring engineers and ensuring compliance with design workflow processes, standards, and codes are also important aspects of the role.

The position typically operates with minimum supervision, consulting leaders on unusual matters. Assignments are broad, requiring originality and ingenuity, and there is appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action and decision-making.
