  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.

    To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a Sr-, Staff-, or Principal-level Simulation Engineer, whose background may include System, Software, and/or GNC Engineering, to develop and lead the Systems Integration Lab (SIL) for an autonomous hypersonic test vehicle. While reporting to the Vehicle Management System (VMS) lead, you will lead multiple phases of the SIL lifecycle, and collaborate with other personnel throughout system development, ground test, and flight test

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead SIL activities, including design, build, integration, operations, and maintenance

    • Contribute to hardware integration with the development of interface documents

    • Development of test plans and scripts for automated testing

    • Development of Processor-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators (hardware and software)

    • Support the development & test of flight software and simulation software

    • Support and execute test events in the SIL as well as other ground test hardware

    • Travel, as needed, to support the department

    • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

    Required Qualifications:

    • Must demonstrate the ability to perform the Essential Responsibilities

    • Experience with software, hardware, and system test methodologies and integration activities

    • Experience programming

    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

    • Ability to work on you own initiative, prioritize tasking, and coordinate with VMS lead to accomplish VMS goals

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

    Required Computer Skills:

    • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with serial communications, software test, and computer networking

    • Experience with Hardware in the loop simulator development and testing

    • Experience with Aircraft, missile, and/or launch vehicle development

    • Experience with requirements development: design, implementation, integration, test, & post-flight analysis

    • Familiarity with concurrent real-time simulation tools

    • Security clearance

    Preferred Computer Skills:

    • Matlab/Simulink

    • C/C++ or Python

    • Familiarity with configuration management systems - Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence

    • LabVIEW

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Sr Level ($104,000-$155,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Staff Level ($126,500-$195,400): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Principal Level ($154,000-$246,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 20+ years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Position based in Mojave, CA

    • Travel, as needed, to support the department. Travel estimated to be <5%

    Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
