Staff Accountant

Robert Half is seeking an ambitious, experienced Staff Accountant for a permanent position within a non profit company. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will review schedules for the reporting processes, take part in compliance, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Key responsibilities

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

• Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

• Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

• Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

• Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

• Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

• Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

Requirements - Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

• Experience with ERP systems

• Foundational knowledge in Sage 100

• Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Functions

• Command of Accounts Payable (AP)

• Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

• Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

• Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases
