    Collins Aerospace is seeking an Algorithms Systems Engineer to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. This is an early career engineering position for an individual with educational and/or professional experience in the development of solutions to GPS Navigation Systems. This individual will be required to run and test modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using Simulink and MATLAB. The work is highly technical, and the individual must be comfortable with documenting equations, derivation, and generation of plots in MATLAB. The individual must be comfortable with data and statistical analysis.

    The successful candidate must be able to work on individual tasks under limited supervision, or with a team to achieve operational targets and must have the ability to communicate and collaborate with parties within and outside of own job function. Eventually the candidate may be responsible for helping to provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within their job area.

    Responsibilities: - Develop algorithms, models, and tools for the JPALS program - Conduct statistical analysis, probability theory and Monte Carlo simulations - Conduct independent research and analysis - Draft technical papers and algorithm descriptions - Lead technical discussions with the customer and internal team

    Qualifications/Experience Needed: - Proficiency in MATLAB; code optimization and numerical stability - Understanding of basic software development principles - configuration control, collaborative development, formal processes - Experience in reading and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis - Experience performing data analysis and problem solving (e.g. anomaly investigation) - Proficient skills in written and oral communication - Experience working well in teams and multi-tasking - Demonstrable computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint - Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience. PhD or Masters highly desired. - Ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance or Higher is REQUIRED

    Security Clearance: - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance - Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

    Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in the systems engineering discipline - Experience performing complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling - Experience performing model driven design using Simulink and auto generated code - Experience with development of solutions to GPS Navigation Systems - Willingness to travel and do field work

    The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
