  • Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Technician (1st Shift).

    The hourly rate for this position is $33.00 - $40.20 per hour. The hours for first shift are as follows; 5:30 am - 2:00 pm.

    What you'll do:

    Assemble and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies of simple to most complex product line that includes but is not limited to commercial parts for customer such as Boeing Defense, Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky, Goodrich, and Cessna. May occasionally work on electrical assemblies and solder. Will be required to work on unusual work where standard or recognizable methods and processes may not be available.

    Essential Functions

    • Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies. Ensure activities are performed correctly and proper tooling and documentation is used. Requires little to no supervision.

    • Organize data and prepare test reports.

    • Perform lock wire/safety wire and nameplate.

    • Must have the ability to utilize hand tools such as, but not limited to, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, flow meters, multimeters, test boxes, set-up and use of XY plotter, oscilloscopes or specialized test equipment as needed.

    • Proficient interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, testing schematics, verbal, and/or written instructions.

    • Perform cross training when required.

    • Material preparation including lapping of surfaces with proper tooling techniques and compounds.

    • Perform visual inspection, identify any defective items and handle according to established procedures.

    • May perform acceptance tests on new development, repaired, modified, returned or production units. Conduct in-person testing as required.

    • Determine when and if Engineering Change Order (ECO) is required and will work with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering department to implement assembly and test procedures.

    • Use test equipment to perform in process testing and final Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).

    • May act as department representative in customer audits/visits.

    • Drive and initiate process improvements within hardware and test equipment which includes detection and isolation of performance discrepancies at each phase of assembly. May require working with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers

    • Performance verification as an operator/inspector for others in the department

    • Understand basic concepts behind Lean and how to apply them.

    • Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling is in calibration before use.

    • Maintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations

    • Other duties as assigned. May be temporarily reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications

    • High School diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.

    • A minimum of 4 years experience in aerospace manufacturing in assembly and testing of hydraulic and electromechanical control valves and knowledge of hydraulic test equipment.

    • A minimum of 6 years experience in assembly and testing of hydraulic and electromechanical control valves and knowledge of hydraulic test equipment.

    • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered for this position.

    • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

    • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
