    Provide age-appropriate assessment and interventions in order to meet the needs of patients and families served. Using independent judgment produces diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems. Obtains, evaluates and uses information from the patient requisition, medical records, referring physician and correlates with acquired images. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology. Takes appropriate additional images to further characterize findings. Observe and practice all the Service Standards listed in the "World Class Practices". Always exercise courtesy whenever patients, family members, visitors and co-workers are present.

    This position will support the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Ultrasound department providing patient care to our inpatient population. This is a Per Diem position that is primarily for weekend coverage and may have additional opportunities for other shifts throughout the week during the day, evening and overnight shifts depending on availability and department need.

    Graduate of CAAHAP accredited school is strongly preferred. Must maintain Active RDMS certification in one specialty, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN. Must have experience with General, OB/Gyn and Vascular Sonography.

      • RDMS (AB or OBGYN) - required
      • At least 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital - required
      • BLS/CPR - required
      • Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program - preferred
      • AAS or higher in Medical Sonography - preferred
      • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and others in a professional and courteous manner
      • Ability to respond effectively and efficiently to needs of patients, physicians and referring services
      • Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately
      • Ability to identify and recognize contraindications for exams. (Radiology Only)
      • Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, while handling multiple tasks to completion within allotted time
      • Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
      • Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS Information systems.
      • Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
      • Understand the requirements of the EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act)
